Introduction

Aquaray-Forte is a prescription medication that is used to relieve symptoms of dry eyes. It contains three active ingredients: Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, Glycerin, and Dextran 70. This ophthalmic solution is available under the brand name Aquaray-Forte.

Uses

Aquaray-Forte is primarily prescribed for the treatment of dry eyes, a condition characterized by insufficient tear production or poor tear quality. Dry eyes can cause discomfort, irritation, and a gritty sensation in the eyes. This medication helps to lubricate the eyes and relieve these symptoms.

Dosage and Administration

The dosage and administration of Aquaray-Forte may vary depending on the severity of the dry eye condition and individual patient factors. Follow the instructions provided by your healthcare professional. Generally, the recommended dosage is 1 to 2 drops in each affected eye, 3 to 4 times a day.

To administer the medication, tilt your head back slightly and pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket. Hold the bottle upside down and gently squeeze the prescribed number of drops into the pocket. Close your eyes gently for a few minutes to allow the medication to spread evenly over the eye surface. Avoid touching the tip of the bottle to any surface to prevent contamination.

Mechanism of Action

Aquaray-Forte works by providing lubrication and moisture to the surface of the eyes. Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, Glycerin, and Dextran 70, the active ingredients in this medication, help to stabilize the tear film and reduce the symptoms of dry eyes. These ingredients help to retain moisture and increase the thickness of the tear film, improving eye comfort.

Side Effects

Common side effects may include temporary blurred vision, eye irritation, stinging or burning sensation in the eyes, or a feeling of something in the eye. These side effects are usually mild and should subside on their own.

In rare cases, some individuals may experience serious side effects such as severe eye pain, vision changes, eye redness, swelling, or signs of an allergic reaction (e.g., rash, itching, swelling). If you experience any of these serious side effects, seek immediate medical attention.

Drug Interactions

There are currently no known significant drug interactions with Aquaray-Forte. However, it is always important to inform your healthcare professional about all the medications, including over-the-counter drugs, supplements, and herbal products, that you are taking to ensure there are no potential interactions.

Precautions

Before using Aquaray-Forte, inform your healthcare professional if you have any known allergies to its ingredients or any other allergies. Report any existing eye conditions or infections, as well as any other medications you are currently taking.

Do not use Aquaray-Forte while wearing contact lenses. Remove your contact lenses before using the medication and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them.

Storage

Aquaray-Forte should be stored at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use to prevent contamination. Do not use the medication if it has passed the expiration date printed on the packaging.
