Introduction

Kolq Plus is a prescription medication that combines several active ingredients to provide relief from symptoms associated with cold, flu, and allergies. It contains Paracetamol, Chlorpheniramine Maleate, Phenylephrine, Sodium Citrate, Ammonium Chloride, and Menthol.

Uses

Kolq Plus is commonly prescribed to alleviate symptoms such as fever, headache, nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing, and sore throat. It is particularly effective in providing relief from the discomfort caused by cold, flu, and seasonal allergies.

Dosage and Administration

The recommended dosage of Kolq Plus for adults and children above 12 years of age is 10 ml every 4-6 hours, not exceeding 40 ml in a 24-hour period. For children between 6 and 12 years of age, the recommended dosage is 5 ml every 4-6 hours, not exceeding 20 ml in a 24-hour period. Carefully follow the dosage instructions provided by your healthcare professional.

Kolq Plus should be shaken well before use. A measuring cup or spoon should be used to ensure accurate dosage. It can be taken with or without food, but it is generally recommended to take it after meals to minimize the chance of stomach upset.

Mechanism of Action

Kolq Plus works by combining the effects of its active ingredients to provide relief from various symptoms. Paracetamol helps reduce fever and relieve pain. Chlorpheniramine Maleate is an antihistamine that helps alleviate symptoms related to allergies, such as sneezing and runny nose. Phenylephrine acts as a decongestant, helping to relieve nasal congestion. Sodium Citrate and Ammonium Chloride act as expectorants, helping to loosen and thin mucus. Menthol provides a cooling sensation that can help soothe sore throat and provide temporary relief from cough.

Side Effects

Common side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, upset stomach, and blurred vision. These side effects are usually mild and temporary. If any of these side effects persist or worsen, consult your healthcare professional.

Serious side effects are rare but may include allergic reactions, rapid or irregular heartbeat, difficulty urinating, and severe stomach pain. If you experience any of these serious side effects, seek medical attention immediately.

Drug Interactions

Kolq Plus may interact with certain medications, including monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), tricyclic antidepressants, and other medications that can cause drowsiness or dizziness. Inform your healthcare professional about all the medications you are taking, including prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal products.
