Lavisure Injection

Introduction

Lavisure is a medication that contains the active ingredient Levetiracetam. It is also known by its generic name, Levetiracetam.

Uses

Lavisure is prescribed to manage certain types of seizures in patients with epilepsy. It is used as an adjunctive therapy in the treatment of partial-onset seizures, myoclonic seizures, and primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures in adults and children.

Dosage and Administration

The dosage of Lavisure is individualized based on the patient’s age, weight, and kidney function. It is administered intravenously over a period of 15 minutes to 60 minutes. The healthcare provider will determine the appropriate dosage and administration schedule for each patient.

Mechanism of Action

Levetiracetam, the active ingredient in Lavisure, works by stabilizing electrical activity in the brain. It modulates neurotransmitter release and inhibits the spread of abnormal electrical activity, thereby reducing the occurrence of seizures.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Lavisure may include dizziness, drowsiness, irritability, and weakness. Serious side effects such as severe mood changes, depression, or suicidal thoughts should be promptly reported to a healthcare professional.

Drug Interactions

Lavisure may interact with certain medications, including other antiepileptic drugs and central nervous system depressants. Inform the healthcare provider about all medications, supplements, and herbal products being taken to avoid potential interactions.

Precautions
