Introduction

Mechanism of Action

Ambrisentan, one of the active ingredients in Pulmonext, belongs to a class of medications called endothelin receptor antagonists. It works by blocking the action of endothelin, a substance that constricts blood vessels and contributes to the progression of PAH. By blocking the effects of endothelin, Ambrisentan helps to relax and widen the blood vessels in the lungs, improving blood flow and reducing the workload on the heart.

Tadalafil, the other active ingredient in Pulmonext, belongs to a class of medications called phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors. It works by inhibiting the enzyme phosphodiesterase type 5, which is responsible for the degradation of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) in the smooth muscle cells of the blood vessels. By inhibiting this enzyme, Tadalafil helps to increase the levels of cGMP, leading to relaxation and widening of the blood vessels in the lungs, further improving blood flow.

Side Effects

Common side effects may include headache, flushing, nasal congestion, muscle pain, and back pain. These side effects are usually mild and temporary.
