Ebastine
Ebastine, a prescription medication available in both tablet and syrup form, is an antihistamine specifically designed to alleviate allergy symptoms. It belongs to a class of medications known as selective H1 antagonists, which target histamine receptors in the body without causing significant sedation or drowsiness. Ebastine is used to treat a variety of allergic conditions such as hay fever (seasonal allergic rhinitis), pet allergies, dust mite allergies, and chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives with an unknown cause). By inhibiting histamine binding to its receptors, ebastine effectively reduces the symptoms of allergy-related inflammation, including sneezing, nasal congestion, itching, watery eyes, and hives. Patients can experience relief without the typical side effects of traditional antihistamines, making ebastine a safe and effective option for individuals seeking allergy symptom management.
