Tranexamic Acid
Tranexamic Acid is a prescription medication that belongs to a group of drugs called antifibrinolytics. It is primarily used to control and prevent excessive bleeding in patients with hemophilia, in surgical procedures, and in hereditary angioedema. The medication works by inhibiting the breakdown of blood clots, promoting clot stability, and decreasing blood loss. In addition, Tranexamic Acid has been found to be effective in the treatment of menorrhagia, a condition characterized by heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding, by reducing blood loss. Although Tranexamic Acid offers significant benefits, it is essential for patients to consult with their healthcare provider before initiating treatment to ensure its safe and proper use.
