Ramipril, Hydrochlorothiazide

Ramipril Hydrochlorothiazide is a combination medication used for treating high blood pressure (hypertension). It combines the actions of Ramipril, an ACE inhibitor, and Hydrochlorothiazide, a diuretic.
Ramipril works by inhibiting the action of an enzyme called angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), which is responsible for narrowing blood vessels. By inhibiting ACE, Ramipril helps to widen blood vessels, thus reducing resistance to blood flow and lowering blood pressure.
Hydrochlorothiazide, on the other hand, promotes the excretion of water and salt by the kidneys. This action helps to reduce the amount of fluid in blood vessels, which results in a decrease in blood pressure.
Ramipril Hydrochlorothiazide is prescribed for patients who cannot achieve satisfactory blood pressure control with Ramipril alone, or for those with accompanying conditions, such as heart failure, diabetes, or kidney disease.
To ensure optimal results, follow your healthcare provider’s instructions closely and to promptly report any adverse effects, such as dizziness or muscle cramps, which may require dosage adjustment.
