Telmisartan

Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) medication, commonly prescribed for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) and heart failure. It works by inhibiting the action of angiotensin II, a hormone that narrows blood vessels and increases blood pressure. By blocking this hormone, telmisartan helps to relax and widen blood vessels, which reduces the pressure in the arteries and improves blood flow.
Telmisartan is available as a single-ingredient medication, as well as in combination with other blood pressure-lowering drugs, such as hydrochlorothiazide or amlodipine. The combination medications offer a more comprehensive approach to managing hypertension by targeting multiple pathways involved in blood pressure regulation.
