Dry skin
Dry skin, also known as xerosis, is a common skin condition characterized by a lack of moisture, resulting in itchiness, tightness, and sometimes flaking. It can affect any part of the body and is often worsened by environmental factors such as cold weather, low humidity, and frequent bathing or showering.
Typical Treatments: The primary goal of treatment for dry skin is to restore and maintain moisture levels in the skin. This can be achieved through the use of gentle, fragrance-free cleansers, rich emollients, and moisturizing creams or lotions. Over-the-counter hydrocortisone creams or ointments may also be used to relieve itching and inflammation in more severe cases. Identify and avoid triggers that contribute to dry skin, such as harsh soaps, hot water, and prolonged exposure to water.
