Amorolfine
Amorolfine is an antifungal medication used to treat nail infections caused by fungi, particularly onychomycosis, a condition that affects the fingernails or toenails. It works by inhibiting the growth of the fungus, allowing the healthy nail to grow back while the infected portion is gradually replaced. This medication is available in the form of a nail lacquer and is applied directly to the affected nails on a regular basis, typically once or twice a week. Amorolfine is effective against both dermatophytes and non-dermatophyte moulds, making it a suitable option for a wide range of nail infections. Amorolfine treatment may take several months to show results, so patients should be advised to continue applying the medication as directed even if initial improvements are not immediately apparent. While amorolfine is generally well-tolerated, some users may experience mild side effects such as skin irritation, redness, or pain around the treated nails. These effects are typically temporary and can be managed with over-the-counter remedies or by adjusting the frequency of application.
