Calcium Gluconate, Calcium Lactobionate

Calcium Gluconate and Calcium Lactobionate are two forms of calcium salts that are commonly used in medical treatments. Both substances provide essential calcium ions to the body, which play a crucial role in various physiological processes, including nerve function, muscle contraction, and bone health.
Calcium Gluconate is a highly soluble calcium salt that is often used in the treatment of hypocalcemia, a condition where the levels of calcium in the blood are too low. This can lead to symptoms such as muscle cramps, spasms, and tingling in the extremities. Calcium Gluconate is also used to prevent and treat calcium deficiencies in patients undergoing kidney dialysis, where the normal mechanisms for calcium absorption are impaired.
Calcium Lactobionate, on the other hand, is a less soluble calcium salt that is typically used for long-term calcium supplementation and treatment of calcium deficiencies. It is particularly useful for patients with kidney issues, as it has a lower risk of causing kidney stone formation compared to other calcium salts. Calcium Lactobionate is also used to prevent and treat osteoporosis, a condition characterized by weak and brittle bones.
