Iodixanol

Iodixanol is a non-ionic, water-soluble, contrast agent used for computed tomography (CT) scans and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures. It is commonly referred to as a radiographic or radiological contrast medium and is administered intravenously to enhance the visibility of blood vessels, soft tissues, and organs within the body.
Iodixanol is specifically designed to improve the diagnostic quality of imaging studies by selectively increasing the X-ray absorption or MRI signal in the targeted tissues. This allows for the early detection and accurate identification of various pathological conditions, such as tumors, inflammation, or infection, which may not be apparent using standard imaging techniques.
The use of Iodixanol ensures a safe and effective imaging procedure, as it is formulated to provide a low osmolarity solution that minimizes the risk of complications, such as adverse reactions or complications related to the administration of high osmolar contrast agents. In addition, Iodixanol contains a lower iodine concentration, which reduces the risk of adverse effects in patients with iodine sensitivities or allergies.
