Fondaparinux

Fondaparinux is a selective direct factor Xa inhibitor, which is an anticoagulant medication used to prevent and treat blood clots. It is specifically indicated for the treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) in patients who are at high risk for bleeding complications or those who cannot be treated with other anticoagulants.
The medication works by selectively binding to factor Xa, a crucial coagulation factor, thereby inhibiting the clotting process. This reduces the risk of blood clots forming and prevents clots from growing larger, ultimately helping to restore blood flow to affected areas.
