Domperidone, Dimethicone
Domperidone is an antiemetic and prokinetic medication, which means it helps to control nausea and vomiting, and increases the movement of the stomach and gut. It is commonly used to treat a variety of conditions, including nausea and vomiting caused by gastroenteritis, motion sickness, chemotherapy, and certain medications. It can also be used to accelerate gastric emptying in patients with gastroparesis, a condition where the stomach takes too long to empty its contents.
Dimethicone is a silicone-based ingredient that is commonly used as an anti-foaming agent in medications. It is also used as a lubricant and emollient in various over-the-counter products, including topical creams, gels, and lotions. Its primary function in this combination medication is to help the Domperidone tablet slide down the oesophagus more easily, thereby reducing the risk of pill-induced oesophageal symptoms such as heartburn or difficulty swallowing.
