Lindane, Cetrimide

Lindane, also known as Cetrimide, is a medication used for treating skin infections caused by certain types of bacteria and parasites. It is an antiparasitic and antiseptic agent, which means it works by killing or inhibiting the growth of parasites and bacteria on the skin.
Lindane is particularly effective against lice, scabies, and some fungal infections. It is available in various forms, including creams, lotions, and shampoos, which can be applied directly to the affected skin area or scalp.
When used for treating lice, Lindane works by penetrating the outer layer of the lice’s exoskeleton, causing them to become dehydrated and eventually die. For scabies, Lindane targets the mites and their eggs, effectively killing them and preventing further infestation.
Follow the instructions provided by your healthcare professional when using Lindane-based products. This includes applying the medication evenly and thoroughly to the affected area, leaving it on for the recommended duration, and washing it off completely afterward.
Lindane should be used with caution in individuals with sensitive skin or a history of adverse reactions to similar medications. Additionally, it is not recommended for use in pregnant or breastfeeding women, as well as children under two years of age, unless specifically directed by a healthcare professional.
