Darifenacin

Darifenacin is an antimuscarinic medication primarily used to treat the symptoms of overactive bladder (OAB) in adults. Specifically, it helps reduce urinary frequency, urgency, and incontinence episodes by relaxing the bladder muscles.
Darifenacin is available in the form of tablets and is usually prescribed after less invasive treatments, such as lifestyle modifications and behavioral techniques, have failed to provide relief. The medication is effective because it blocks the actions of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter responsible for bladder contractions.
Patients with a history of urinary retention, gastric retention, or uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma should use this medication with caution, as it can cause adverse effects in these populations. Darifenacin is also not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women due to potential harm to the fetus or infant.
