Amoxapine
Amoxapine is an atypical antipsychotic medication used to treat mental health disorders such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. It is also used for managing symptoms of anxiety and depression associated with these conditions. Amoxapine works by blocking dopamine and norepinephrine receptors in the brain, helping to regulate mood and behavior. Amoxapine has a black box warning for potential increased risk of suicidal thoughts and behavior in patients under the age of 24, so it should be prescribed with caution in this age group. Patients should be monitored closely for any signs of suicidal thoughts or behavior while taking amoxapine.
