Molgramostim
Molgramostim, also known as Leukine, is a recombinant human granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF). It is a type of white blood cell booster that promotes the growth and differentiation of granulocytes and macrophages.
Molgramostim is primarily used in patients with certain types of cancer who are undergoing chemotherapy treatments. The primary purpose of using this medication is to reduce the risk of severe neutropenia, which is a condition where the body’s neutrophil count (a type of white blood cell) decreases significantly, making the person more susceptible to infections. By increasing the number of neutrophils in the blood, molgramostim helps strengthen the immune system and fight off infections more effectively.
This medication is typically administered through a subcutaneous injection, either daily or in a split dose on specific days during the patient’s chemotherapy cycle. Molgramostim can help maintain the body’s ability to fight off infections during cancer treatment and facilitate the patient’s overall recovery process.
Follow the prescribed dosage and schedule under the guidance of a healthcare professional to ensure the safe and effective use of molgramostim.
