Etodolac

Etodolac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain and reduce inflammation and swelling in various conditions, such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. It works by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins, which are substances responsible for inflammation, pain, and fever.
Etodolac is available as a 200 mg, 400 mg, or 600 mg tablet for oral administration. It is typically taken twice daily, with or without food, and should be taken with a full glass of water. The dosage should be adjusted according to the severity of the condition and the patient’s response to therapy.
Like other NSAIDs, Etodolac may cause gastrointestinal side effects, such as stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation. Rarely, more severe gastrointestinal complications, such as ulcers or bleeding, may occur. Etodolac may also increase the risk of heart attack or stroke in certain individuals, particularly those with existing cardiovascular disease. Therefore, consult with a healthcare professional before taking Etodolac, especially if the patient has a history of heart disease, high blood pressure, or kidney or liver problems.
