Piles
Piles, also known as hemorrhoids, are swollen blood vessels in the lower part of the rectum or anus. They can be either internal (inside the rectum) or external (outside the anus). Piles can cause discomfort, itching, pain, and bleeding during bowel movements. Common symptoms include the presence of blood on toilet paper or in the toilet bowl after passing stool.
Treatment options for piles typically involve over-the-counter medications, such as creams, ointments, and suppositories, which help to soothe the affected area and reduce inflammation. These products often contain ingredients like hydrocortisone, lidocaine, or witch hazel. In more severe cases, medical procedures like rubber band ligation or surgical removal may be necessary.
Maintain a high-fiber diet, drink plenty of water, and avoid straining during bowel movements to prevent the recurrence of piles. If symptoms persist or worsen, consult a healthcare professional for further evaluation and treatment.
