Ceftazidime, Tazobactum
Ceftazidime-Tazobactam is a combination antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. Ceftazidime is a cephalosporin antibiotic, while Tazobactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor. When used together, they work synergistically to combat bacteria that are resistant to single-agent antibiotics.
Ceftazidime-Tazobactam is effective against various Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, including those resistant to other antibiotics. It is commonly prescribed for serious infections such as pneumonia, intra-abdominal infections, urinary tract infections, and skin and soft tissue infections.
The medication is administered intravenously or intramuscularly, depending on the severity of the infection and the patient’s condition. Ceftazidime-Tazobactam should be used with caution in patients with known allergies to cephalosporins or penicillins, as cross-reactivity may occur.
