Levamisole

Levamisole is an anthelmintic medication primarily used for treating infections caused by parasitic worms. It belongs to the class of drugs called imidazothiazoles and is effective against various types of roundworms, tapeworms, and hookworms.
Levamisole is commonly prescribed for treating infections caused by the roundworm Ascaris lumbricoides, the tapeworm Diphyllobothrium latum, and the hookworms Necator americanus and Ancylostoma duodenale. It is also used to eliminate roundworms and hookworms in animals, particularly in veterinary medicine.
The medication works by paralyzing the parasitic worms, causing them to lose muscle control and eventually be eliminated from the body through natural processes. Levamisole is typically administered orally, either as a single dose or in multiple doses, depending on the severity of the infection and the type of parasite involved.
