Alfuzosin, Dutasteride
Alfuzosin and Dutasteride is a combination medication used to treat the symptoms of an enlarged prostate, also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Alfuzosin is an alpha-blocker that works by relaxing the muscles in the prostate and bladder, which helps to alleviate urinary symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, and weak urine flow. Dutasteride, on the other hand, is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor that reduces the production of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone responsible for the growth of the prostate.
This combination medication is typically prescribed for men who have not responded well to alfuzosin or dutasteride alone, or for those who require more effective relief from their symptoms. By addressing both the muscle relaxation and hormonal aspects of BPH, this medication can provide a more comprehensive treatment approach to improve urinary symptoms and overall quality of life for men with an enlarged prostate.
