Ziprasidone
Ziprasidone is an atypical antipsychotic medication used to treat symptoms of schizophrenia in adults. It is also approved for the acute treatment of manic or mixed episodes associated with bipolar disorder in adults. This medication works by affecting certain chemicals in the brain, such as serotonin and dopamine, which can help control symptoms of psychosis and mood disturbances. Ziprasidone is available in tablet form and is typically taken once or twice daily. It is important to follow the prescribed dosage and to continue taking the medication even when feeling better, as stopping the medication suddenly can cause withdrawal symptoms or a recurrence of symptoms. As with all medications, patients should discuss any side effects or concerns with their healthcare provider.
