Pirfenidone
Pirfenidone 267 mg oral tablets are a prescription medicine used to treat idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a chronic lung disease marked by scarring of the lung tissues. This condition leads to severe shortness of breath, cough, fatigue, and a decline in overall lung function. Pirfenidone works by reducing the production of excess collagen, a protein that causes scar tissue formation in the lungs, thereby slowing down the progression of IPF. Furthermore, it has anti-inflammatory properties that help alleviate symptoms related to the disease. While Pirfenidone may not cure pulmonary fibrosis, it may improve lung function and delay the need for lung transplantation.
